\"Verizon<\/a>Talk about hard to find! I learned from a Facebook post by Mayor Wayne Smith<\/a> about 55,000+ customers petitioning Verizon to cut their fees<\/a>. I looked at the Techyville article but founc no link to the petition. Several Google searches I ran through \u2013 web, Google News and a Google power search on the change.org website where the petition is supposed to be, didn’t pull anything up either.<\/p>\n

Then I found an article which links to the petition<\/a> at the end of a post. But then I stumbled across another url that couldn’t be any simpler: just change.org\/contracts<\/a> and this is the one I’m sharing. I can’t remember where I found it (oops) but no matter. The point is, you can now navigate to the petition and sign away!<\/p>\n

In case you’re interested, the petition was started by Mike Beauchamp from Wichita, KS (the banana city) and has pretty much gone viral. Follow Mike on Twitter @mbchp<\/a>. Here’s what he asking Verizon to do:<\/p>\n

Getting rid of carrier contracts is a win for customers. Verizon’s CEO, Lowell McAdam, has already expressed his willingness to do away with them if consumers speak loud enough about it. So here’s your chance: sign this petition to tell Verizon to end carrier contracts and create an affordable way for consumers to purchase their devices. If you’re a current customer, you don’t have to switch carriers or have plans to switch carriers. I’ve been a long-time Verizon customer and I don’t see myself ever leaving; but I want that choice myself; I don’t want them making it for me and imposing stiff penalties if I do decide to leave.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
