Release of video showing 17 yo Laquan being killed have Chicago police all jittery

Chi police on high alert pending shooting video release
Facebook post by Cynthia OneDay Flood
Facebook wouldn’t let me share Cynthia Flood‘s post about Chicago police gearing up for a high-alert, increased police presence in readiness for today’s release of the patrol car dashboard cam video footage of 17 year old Laquan McDonald being fatally shot 16 times by a police officer on 20 October 2014. A judge ordered the video to be released by Wednesday.

Poor boy. He was apparently high on PCP but exhibited no violent behaviour.

The officer who mercilessly and without provocation executed Laquan is being charged with murder. I wish for Laquan’s mother, family, friends and community – peace, comfort and healing. read more

ISIS = ISIL = IS = DAESH = rapists, brutalizers, woman murderers

ISIS = ISIL = IS = DAESH. All names for Islamic terrorists known for committing violent crimes against humanity around the world – even against fellow Muslims. They are the cause of Syrian citizens mass exodus from their homeland.

The world knew about young sex slaves Daesh kidnaps and forces into marriages or continuously rapes until the woman crave death rather than live this way. The Telegraph relates:

Last year, one 17-year-old girl, part of a group of about 40 Yazidi women who were still being held captive and sexually abused on a daily basis by Isil fighters, told how they were raped on the top floor of the building, up to three times a day, by different groups of men. read more

NY Daily News outs GOP-backed NRA for putting weapons in hands of terrorists

NY Daily News front page 151118
NY Daily News front page 18 Nov 2015

Republican federal officials were outed by the New York Daily News this morning for colluding with the NRA to sell guns with no questions asked and no background checks, to anyone with the financial resources to buy them. What this means, is that guns have been legally sold to thousands of people on the FBI terrorist watch list – 2000 in fact, over the past 11 years. And your Republican politician, helped to make that happen.

Good thing that Pres. Obama has made a commitment to dedicate his last year in the White House to pushing for gun control reform. read more

Exonerees robbed in prison of decades of their lives now work to free others

true-conviction film
True Conviction Film
After watching the “True Conviction” trailer I put my head down on my desk and cried. What a terrible story – wrongfully convicted men exonerated after decades in jail, having lost the chance to raise and help their children – and to develop as members of society. This nightmare juxtaposed by the love for humanity this team embodies, men who have refused to turn their backs on others wrongfully imprisoned by a brutal and oppressive penal system. They call themselves Freedom Fighters and are led by Christopher Scott. Tambay A. Obenson writes: read more

Israel conspiracy theories are incitements to hate Jews. If you love truth, don’t buy in.

Muslim leader & Hitler - Jew hatred is in Quran
There are an exponentially growing number of anti-Jewish incidents around the world, predominantly fueled by extremist Muslim dollars, the indifference of progressives and the silence of people whose reason and compassion might positively influence public opinion – except they won’t speak out. I don’t wish to enable hatred with my own silence.

However, disputing the viciousness of Jew haters makes me instantly frustrated. It seems a daunting task to confront the beliefs of people who when it comes to bashing Jews thoughtlessly spread rumour and innuendo against my people and hold onto an unreasoning hatred of Jews no matter what good we do. These people embrace an unreasoning support for Muslims no matter what harm or violence Muslim extremists commit … and show no interest in factual analysis of the rumours that are disseminated by propagandists, or the truth. In their hatred for Jews the unreasoning are eager to embrace information that fuels their hatred and show no interest in assessing whether the information is true or false. read more

Christie vetoed bill requiring police & firemen to live in NJ communities they serve

Newark police
Photo source: unknown photo of Newark Police found via Patch
It’s a sad state of affairs when community servants are “vehemently opposed” to living in the communities they serve. That is nevertheless the case for policemen and firefighters, who consider it a huge win that Christie vetoed the residency requirement bill A4265 that passed both State Senate and Assembly this summer. The bill calls for new hires to live in the town they serve, “for the first 5 years on the job.” The NJ Fraternal Order of Police website states: read more

Many stories in play behind U Missouri protests, football team boycott threat & president resignation

U Missouri Race Issues
Source: found at local8now.com
ABC provides good framing for Pres. Wolfe’s resignation from University of Missouri: The Concerned Student 1950 campus group named for the year “the first black student was admitted” began a month-long series of protests that culminated in a list of demands calling for Wolfe’s removal…

.. as a part of a protest over the way the university handles racial harassment … (including a request) for a comprehensive racial awareness and inclusion curriculum, and an increase of black faculty and staff. read more

When voters don’t vote do falling trees make sounds in the forest?

graphic: two thirds don't vote
Art by Nick Anderson for Houston Chronicle 11-04-14
I don’t know why people tie themselves into pretzels over this: it’s simple math. Two thirds (2/3) of eligible voters don’t vote. If only 1 in 3 people votes, it is true that 1 person will be making decisions for him/herself – plus for the other 2 people who didn’t vote.

There is nothing noble about voting, but it is a pretty sure-fired way to show your elected official that you are willing to show up at the polls. This sends a clear message that you can vote him/her out of office – which is their job – if s/he doesn’t represent you well. read more

Chalabi late: the man who helped Bush move US into Iraq War

The man who supplied the false evidence that Bush used to push America into war with Iraq, has become late: Ahmed Chalabi. A New York Magazine article tells the story of how his lies together with the ambitions of New York Times reporter Judith Miller, catapulted the Weapons of Mass Destruction myth into national prominence and helped GW Bush build his case to start the Iraq war. A war which effected the transfer of so much wealth from public coffers into close family friend VP Dick Cheney’s Halliburton company, that it seems entirely plausible that Bush’s hunger to push America into war was motivated by desire for personal gain. read more

The People won prison phone justice today – thanks FCC!

We won phone justice
Graphic by Jermaine Chambers
What kind of a nation would lock up 10% of its adult population long term for minor crimes like smoking a marijuana joint or stealing a jacket … and on top of that, make calling home so expensive for prisoners it became virtually impossible?

Well, that would be the United States of America – until this morning, that is, when the FCC voted to make prison calls affordable. Thank you for heading up this valuable initiative Commissioner Mignon Clyburn.

Today (Thursday, 21 October 2015), the Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 to cap the rates and fees companies charge those families struggling to keep in touch with incarcerated relatives by phone. That change came as a direct result of mounting pressure from groups across the country. read more

Big Media hates Lessig’s campaign message (get Big Money out of elections)

Who profits most when hundreds of millions of dollars are invested in funding political campaigns? Possibly it’s the media companies that get handsomely paid to serve up the ads that are bought with those millions.

So, it makes sense that Big Media is blacking out news and views about the candidate running on a platform to completely cut Big Money out of political campaigns. Harvard Constitutional Law Professor Lawrence Lessig’s platform is barebones simple: let’s reform US politics, beginning with getting Big Money out of political elections. This will make voting more egalitarian and Congress more accountable. From Lessig’s campaign website: read more

Reactions begin to emerge about increase in Palestinian violence against Jews

In Israel, Jewish families and children are being stabbed in hate crimes. Yesterday, almost-13 year old Naor Shalev ben Rut was stabbed several times and now fights to retain his hold on life. Yet instead of call for an end to Arab violence, the UN’s head has called for Israel to leave Arabs alone. The UN is famous for its discrimination against Israel but this is right over the top and seems very like incitement. Major media as usual, has been largely silent on the violence except to criticize Israel for taking steps to protect or stop the knifers but now this might be changing. read more

Ayad Jamal Al-Din beautifully tells why peace will come from separating state from religion

Screen Shot 2015-10-12 at 5.16.49 PMIn this TV debate, the compassion of Former Iraqi MP Ayad Jamal Al-Din for his fellow man and the true Muslim faith shine through wonderfully. The historical and religious points with which Mr. Al-Din elucidates his reasons for believing that government must remain separate from religion, are compelling and strangely beautiful. I found myself crying with the emotion of hearing this good man express his abiding love and respect for all persons.

Ayad Jamal Al-Din on defeating ISISIn the next clip, Mr. Al-Din explains why Muslims must choose between the extremism of ISIS and the peaceful alternative lifestyle offered by modern secular, civil governments that serve all people equally and call for the violent deaths of no one. God bless, Mr. Al-Din. read more
